Artist Statement:
I am a self-taught artist originally from the UK, now living in North Truro on Cape Cod. While I work in a variety of media - collage, assemblage, altered books - my primary source material is almost always used maps and atlases. I create three-dimensional art from maps, which themselves are a two-dimensional representation of a three-dimensional world. When I select maps to use in my work I’m driven almost entirely by the aesthetics of the colors and shapes within them. I ‘excavate’ the maps - hand cutting away specific areas, which then heightens the focus on others. With spaces between the roads of a map removed, the viewer is able to peer deep into the mass of tangled layers of streets, perhaps a symbol of the messiness of interconnected lives. There is both a sense of loss, of the absence of what has been removed, and a sense of resilience and endurance, as the roads remain intact within the fragile structure of the now lace-like pages. Maps are of particular interest to me - they are beautiful to look at, they represent areas lived in and places still to visit, and I have incredibly fond memories of learning to map read when I was very young. Now, as an adult, and living on a different continent from where I grew up, maps make the world seem smaller and give me a physical and emotional connection to another time and place. One of my favorite things about using maps to create art is that they retain the inherent history of the person who owned them before me - a history I am rarely privy to yet I feel becomes part of the work I create. I often imagine maps and atlases rolling off the printing press - household names like Hammond, AAA, Rand McNally, (or Ordnance Survey from the UK, where I grew up). And somehow one of the tens of thousands of copies of that particular edition, maybe decades (once or twice even a century) after it was printed, finds its way to me. The paper is worn at the folds, yellowed at the edges, cities are circled, routes are highlighted. Coffee spills, phone numbers, and directional notes all speak to its earlier life as a functional object in someone else’s hands. Through these maps I experience histories small and large as I vicariously travel other peoples’ vacations, and witness the downfall of empires as borders move and country names change. I like to say that a beautiful map makes my heart race and my hand reach for my X-acto knife. And through the cutting and tearing, the layering and pasting, the rolling and folding of that one atlas or single map, I too become part of its history.
Artist Bio:
Sian Robertson (b. Carmarthen, Wales, 1963) grew up in South West Wales, in the UK. She received a BEd (Hons) from Rolle College in Exmouth, Devon and went on to work in the union and non-profit sectors in both Bristol and London until moving to America in 1992. After seven years in San Francisco she settled on Cape Cod, where her art career began. Robertson has never received any formal art training but has been cutting and pasting, amongst many other creative pursuits, since she was a child. Since 2015 she has had solo shows almost annually in galleries in Provincetown, MA, as well as being part of many juried and group shows in galleries and arts institutions in Provincetown, across Cape Cod, and in Boston. In 2024 she was invited by Twenty Summers to create her first ever site-specific installation at the Hawthorne Barn in Provincetown, MA. In 2023 Robertson was the recipient of the Juror’s Award at the International Society of Experimental Artists’s annual show, Innovations, held at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod. Robertson’s Postage Portraits were featured in Uppercase Magazine in 2015, and her Map Sculptures in the same publication in 2020. She was the subject of articles in Provincetown Magazine in 2016, the Provincetown Banner in 2018, and the Provincetown Independent in 2020 & 2024. Robertson teaches classes at Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill, and at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum.

Artist Statement:
When I was in college, three significant events influenced my direction as an artist: 1) The escalation of the war in Vietnam; 2) My first painting class taught by a young, energetic teacher whose abstract work was radiant with color; (3) Being mentored by an abstract expressionist painter (artist-in-residence) who, by turning out one print after another, forced me to question wherein lay creativity.
Nonetheless, the creative process gave me a freedom I had never experienced before. I enjoyed painting but wanted my art to connect with the activist world of which I was a part (civil rights work, teaching in a “ghetto” church in the South Bronx, humanitarian work in the Central African Republic, pro- Sandinista protests on the border with El Salvador, demonstrations against the Vietnam War, etc.).
Upon graduating from Dartmouth, I, therefore, declined acceptance into Yale’s MFA program and instead accepted a fellowship to the Episcopal Theological School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, eventually becoming an Episcopal priest. Later, I received an MFA from Pratt Institute (NYC) in sculpture and photography. My primary creative commitment has been to large scale, site-specific installations and conceptual work, all focused on political, religious and cultural issues. The smaller sculptures I’m showing at The Commons reflect these same concerns.

Artist Statement:
Surprises, learning ,emotional revelation and investigation are the core of my work. I usually start with fairly representational figures but as I work I change the figure. may wipe out an arm or a leg, add an extra hand or paint out the face. Challenging myself is an important aspect of the process. I like going to unknown places. I use the figure to explore relationships and the scope of human emotion. The formal approach is important in the process for me :judging shape ,color, line, constantly asking myself, how can I make this work?
Artist Bio:
I have been vacationing in Truro, Ma at my grandparents house since I was born. My dream to live here came true when I met my future husband on Ballston Beach. I soon moved up here in 2005 from Philadelphia. I became active in the robust art community here, showing at the Provincetown Art Museum, The Commons, What Theater and several other venues. My art education began at the University of the Americas in Mexico City .After one year. I returned to Philadelphia and over 20 years attended The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, The Philadelphia College of Art and a bachelors degree from Tyler School of Art. Over the years I painted a variety, the figure, landscapes ,flowers, abstracts and fabric constructions. My husband built me a studio next to our house in Truro. I had never painted to sell, but my aunt in Philadelphia aske if I would paint flowers to sell in her café. I thought" Wow, I can make some money at this" Well none of those paintings sold. I was so angry saying" I will never paint to sell" I pinned up large sheets of paper and began what is my mature art now, painting the figure. I was able using the accumulated skills of many years to express what you see in the work. This is my expression now.

Faulkner’s decades-long practice brings art into conversation with the political, religious, and cultural forces that shape our lives. Rooted in a history of activism and conceptual art, 250 and Counting asks viewers to consider where we have been, where we find ourselves now, and what we carry forward.
During the talk, Faulkner will discuss the conceptual framework behind the exhibition, his choice of media, and the personal and historical experiences that inform the work.
Join us for a thought-provoking conversation with the artist and an opportunity to experience this evocative exhibition through his eyes.

Come to The Commons and spend a couple of hours in collaborative creation. We will have a bowl of prompts in case anyone needs one, and we will be together, writing. We will say hello, set our intentions, set a timer for 30 min for writing, then talk and stretch for 5 minutes or so. And repeat. The last 15 minutes, we can share either new work or ideas. Working in the presence and community of others can radically shift what we do, even if we don't share "output" or "product." Let's just be writers together in a room for a couple of hours.

This exhibition is dedicated to the power of place—specifically Provincetown. Here, land, ocean, and human presence have layered over time, leaving a continuous imprint. Past and present do not recede but remain visible, shimmering within the current moment.
The works in this show hold a contemplative space. They invite the viewer to pause, to reflect, and to enter into this quiet accumulation of experience—where memory, perception, and presence unfold together.
Artist Bio:
Susan Bernstein has 26 years as a ceramic artist and teacher at Mudflat in Somerville, MA and summer workshops at Castle Hill, Truro, MA. She has her ceramics studio in Provincetown and is also a resident artist at Mudflat. Susan is a hand builder primarily interested in making sculptural and conceptual work. She showed her conceptual work at AMP Gallery in Provincetown from 2012-2022. She had a solo show “Mud Garden" in 2025 at Zone7a Gallery in Provincetown. Susan holds a passion for the power of clay to have more than just functional beauty; it can also hold stories, questions, history, intentions and mystery.

Artist Statement:
Art is not psychology. Art is not illustration. Art is consequence.
I love to push paint around. I’m not really interested in any kind of morality in painting or teaching anybody anything. If someone sees any commentary in my work it is their interpretation. What I do is for myself, an arrangement of dark and light, composing lyrically with the pigments, the textures and the resulting forms. My paintings are about my state of mind. Totally lucid but non-rational. I am not comfortable with the term “abstract” in describing my work because it implies the manipulation of an existing structure or object. I rather like to consider my paintings contemporary artifacts of sorts. Souvenirs of an inward journey, having a unique vocabulary, with no conclusions, just conversations. My purpose, simply stated, is that I have none other than the process itself, standing alone as a means of contemplation and not as a mirror.
However, for the sake of the viewer and to quote Aldous Huxley “Every significant artist is a metaphysician, a propounder of beauty-truths and form theories.” But if there are beauty truths to be formed then the best that anyone can do is to hold space for that which is hard to define, utilizing open ended, responsive forms in the way that a parent holds the space for a child to play and to experience the world. This body of work illustrates that the real subject running through it is playfulness founded in the magic and mystery of the poetic experience.
Artist Bio:
Rosemary Broton Boyle is a visual artist specializing in Painting and 3D wall sculpture working at studios in the Boston and North Truro areas. The recipient of a Fullbright Fellowship she received her BFA from Syracuse University And her MFA from Goddard College in Vermont. She’s taught Art and Art History for 18 years in both the high school and college levels. Her work is included in the collections of Neiman Marcus, The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, Fidelity Investments, Suffolk University, Syracuse University, Liberty Mutual, St Elizabeths Hospital among many other businesses, law firms, restaurants and resorts.
She has exhibited her work in a multitude of venues including Audrey Pepper Gallery/Boston, Carson /Masouoka Gallery in Denver CO, Rice Pollack and the Oz Gallery/ Provincetown, Mass Art Boston, The Museum School/Boston, The Sequoia Collection in Santa Fe, NM, Attleboro Museum, PAM/Ptown, Duxbury Art Complex Museum, Art 3/NH, Jules Place/Boston , The Shillkamp Gallery At Clark University, St. Botophs Club/Boston, Kobalt Gallery, The Newton Art Center, Cambridge Art Association and the Concord Art Association. She is also represented in a myriad of residential collections.
Rosemary has also traveled extensively all over the world. Included in her travels she attended an encaustic workshop in Malaga, Spain. She studied art and language at the University of Kracow, in Poland and twice ventured to the Santa Raparata International School of Art in Florence, Italy to study printmaking.

Priscilla enjoys the lushness and messiness of oil paint and the texture of rough surfaces showing through the stroke. Without an education in drawing, Priscilla is still surprised she can convey a subject that is recognizable without being photographic. She is excited by vibrant color, frustrated by the effort required to develop a piece, but calmed by the Zen focus required. She works largely from photographs of local subjects and her travels. She feels she is just scratching the surface of painting.
Artist Bio
Priscilla Jackett has lived year-round in Provincetown for over 56 years. Although taking many art history courses as a college undergraduate and enjoying the lively gallery scene in Provincetown, she only began painting in her late 40’s wanting to take advantage of the plethora of well-known painters living here. Painting very intermittently while working her day job, she began her studies with Gail Browne and Carole Westcott and participated occasionally in PAAM and Castle Hill workshops with Sal DelDeo, TJ Walton, Mark Adams, and Mary Giammarino, among others. In semi-retirement, she joined the COA workshops with Steve Kennedy. She retired in 2015 and began painting regularly with Jeanne Fogg-Brock and Mary Giammarino. She was accepted in a Members’ Juried show at PAAM and has shown in many Members Open shows, group shows at the annual Church of St Mary of the Harbor’s Art & Spirit Auction, The Commons, The Post Office Gallery in North Truro , the Larkin Gallery in Harwich as well as two solo exhibits, one at Seashore Point Residences and another at the Wellfleet Library. Her paintings are in many private collections.

Artist Statement:
Plato felt that beautiful objects incorporate proportion, harmony and unity among their parts. Walter's artwork strives to acknowledge Plato and envision simple, elegant and sensual works that evoke the natural places and figures their inspiration came from. When an appreciator of his art embraces the ‘sense of place’ in his work his mission is fulfilled. In his current series of oil / CWM paintings, his focus is to evoke the sensuality of men in a natural environment saturated in light and water - this new series 'Boy Beach Boys' are exercises using transparent layers of paint to convey this.
Artist Bio:
Making objects and paintings has been Walter’s life work from childhood through retirement. After graduating from MassArt his work for 10 years thereafter was as a scientific illustrator at Harvard’s Museum of Comparative Zoōlogy. Concurrently, he was employed as a horticulturist on the 16-acre estate of Ellen Paine, the daughter of renowned landscape architect Charles Eliot. This work fostered his further interest in the environment and led to obtaining a Master of Landscape Architecture degree. Professional work for a series of major landscape architecture firms utilized Walter’s talents in drawing to create visible representations for clients. His own painting in oil was pursued throughout his professional work, but it proliferated after retirement. Walter’s development of acrylic underpainting followed by transparent layers of oil / cold wax medium was used to develop the luminous light-filled canvases he is known for.

My work is inspired by the landscapes of Provincetown, Wellfleet, and Truro—places that feel both timeless and alive. The dunes rise and shift, the houses stand a little crooked with history, and the people bring a warmth that connects it all. I’m drawn to these imperfections. Through my paintings, I try to capture not just the scene, but the feeling of being there.

Dianne is a messy, impatient painter who loves color and crooked lines. Dianne is drawn to imperfect and timeless objects. Old boats, wharves, and pilings are great subject matters. Abstract flowers in wonky vases and bathing suit clad figures are other personal favorites.

Wendy Allen’s work explores the intersection of form, function, and daily ritual. Working in stoneware and porcelain, she creates pieces intended for use—objects that become part of everyday life, from shared meals to quiet moments at home. Influenced by her Danish roots, Allen is drawn to simplicity, balance, and the beauty of well-made, functional design. She builds surfaces through texture and layered glazes, creating depth and variation so that each piece feels both tactile and visually rich. As she works, Allen considers the eventual home of each piece: a table set for gathering, a softly lit evening with one of her luminaries, or a vase holding fresh flowers. Her practice is rooted in the belief that handmade objects gain meaning through use, and she is especially interested in the life her work takes on beyond the studio—living in other people’s homes and becoming part of their stories.
Artist Bio
Wendy Allen is a Truro-based potter who has been honing her practice for over a decade, with studio experience in New York, New Jersey, and Oxford, England. Working primarily in stoneware and porcelain, she creates pieces that explore a range of forms, brought to life through layered glazes and richly developed surface textures. Influenced by her Danish roots, Allen’s work reflects a deep appreciation for simplicity, balance, and functionality. Each piece is designed with intention—meant to be held, used, and integrated into daily rituals.

Artist Statement
I make art pieces using venetian plaster as my medium, focusing on pushing the boundaries of its traditional use as a decorative wall treatment. I like to play with the juxtapositions of incongruous textures, colors and shapes and am fascinated by the shimmer and energy that is invoked. The resulting imagery is mostly abstract and drawn from the found art of the everyday and the visual richness of my surroundings -- the power of the natural world as well as the complex patterns that emerge from the material world.

Kathryn has been working internationally as a self-employed Decorative Artist since graduating from Brown University in 1983 with a B.A. in Studio Art. Aside from creating a wide variety of custom finishes, such as woodgraining and marbling to name a few, she has enriched her skills with courses in Gilding and decorative plaster finishes, and has studied Mosaics in Italy and at the Chicago Mosaic School. Her artwork is included in private collections, and she has shown in local exhibitions and in California.

My work explores the always changing sea and shifting sands which surround the Outer Cape. From gentle waters brushing the shoreline, to crashing waves in all their fury. When I turn away from the beaches I’m drawn to the marshes at lands’ end and the three lighthouses dotting the shore. In all my works I strive to capture a moment in time and invite the viewers to pause, reflect, and find their own narratives within the work.
Artist Bio
Den Streeff attended F.I.T in New York City as a graphic artist student and worked in the industry for several years in Manhattan and Boston. He moved to Ptown in the early nineties and began to explore the finer arts along with creative writing. Over the years he attended courses in all kinds of mediums searching for his voice. More recently he studied working in charcoal/conte/graphite with Kathy Smith. He studied white line printing under Kathy as well, which she is renowned for. He has taken painting classes with Steve Kennedy working in acrylics. In 2023 he fell in love with soft pastels after having taking Eileen Casey’s class at the Creative Arts Center in Chatham. Since then, he has further his studies in pastels taking classes at The Cultural Center of Cape Cod studying under different teachers. This past year he won a Barbara Stone Scholarship to study under a master pastelist. He is a member of the Pastel Society of Cape Cod and is a member of PAAM.

Artist Statement:
Laurie Sheffield is a painter, printmaker and collage artist, living most of the year in Cambridge, MA and sometimes in Provincetown. After studying art and English at Cornell University, her further art experience includes study at the Museum School, Massachusetts College of Art, PAAM and the Fine Arts Work Center. Laurie teaches printmaking at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education and has a studio at Shepherd & Maudsleigh in Newton, MA. Her work has been shown at CCAE, the Nave Gallery in Somerville, PAAM, and the Cambridge Art Association. This is her first show at the Commons.

My recent acrylics on panels and paper represent a synthesis of the soul: a personal exploration of life on the Outer Cape. They are a visual fusion of self and environment; the body/mind connection; the comfort and beauty of home; the individuality and immortality of painted images. I paint whatever moves me at any given time, with form and feeling. Painting is color in all its myriad methods and combinations: the light and character of Provincetown at the end of a fulfilling day, depending on the mood and weather; the excitement and relaxation of always looking, both inside and outside, keeps up the momentum. Outwash: Cape Cod’s Story of Change is an interdisciplinary exhibition and panel discussion that tells the story of the natural and cultural history of Cape Cod while considering its future. This exhibition invites five artists into dialogue, all of whom hold a personal and artistic relationship to Cape Cod. The resulting work engages with the richness and depth of this place while considering the intersecting challenges of climate change and environmental degradation, the ongoing housing crisis, immigration, and what it means to love your community in an imperfect world.

ARTIST STATEMENT:
In political discourse, the humanity of individuals often gets overlooked. With legal challenges to the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community increasing almost daily—particularly regarding the right to marry—my goal with this portrait series is to highlight the human beings whose lives are impacted by politics, policy, and law.
ARTIST BIO:
Ron Amato is a Professor in the Photography and Related Media Department at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. In addition to his extensive career in commercial photography, Ron has published three monographs, and his work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally. His most recent book, Artists of Provincetown (2024), is a collection of eighty-four portraits of artists with strong connections to Provincetown, Massachusetts, created over an eight-year period. This work culminated in an exhibition at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum in the summer of 2024. Ron holds a BFA in Photography from the School of Visual Arts, NYC, and an MFA in New Media Art and Performance from Long Island University.

ARTIST STATEMENT:
As advances in AI and other generative software continue to blur the lines between reality and fiction, I have found a renewed inspiration in my work from the Arts and Crafts Movement. In this series, a strong focus on quilting and folk art underscores each piece. Drawing upon memories from growing up in a household where exploring creativity was a daily experience, I have sought to celebrate craftsmanship of the past and recall work made by human hands.
ARTIST BIO:
Joe Dill was born and raised in Northeast Ohio on the shores of Lake Erie. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Design and Technology from Northern Kentucky University. Joe has exhibited his work throughout the State of Ohio and the Northern Kentucky region and is excited for this to be his first exhibition in Provincetown. He is a mixed media artist who primarily works with wood reeds that have defined his work for the last decade. His abstracted, textured works are heavily influenced by the teachings of Rowena Reed Kostello who emphasized the importance of balance and harmony. She stressed that there is a structure to visual relationships that serves as the underlying principle of all art and design. Joe regularly takes inspiration from his environment, working to abstract architecture and landscapes to highlight the balance that surrounds us every day.

Artist Statement:
"The Art of Becoming" is a curated group exhibition that explores the profound and varied expressions of inner strength and resilience following trauma and recovery. Bringing together a diverse group of artists working in painting, sculpture and mixed media the show features individuals who have each navigated personal or collective trauma and channeled their experiences into creative expression. Thought trauma leaves it's mark, it does not define us; this exhibition showcases art created during, as a product of, and in the aftermath of pain, serving as a testament to the powerful, often quiet, act of survival and transformation.
Artist Bio:
Dana Demers is a New Hampshire born Artist living and working on Cape Cod for nearly two decades.
During his undergraduate studies Demers studied painting and art nistory, Talling in love with the ola master style of translucen lowing layers. Originally trained as a water colour artist, Demer found it difficult to break into the modern wet on wet and opaque style of oil painting that still trends. Determined, Demers started exploring oil formulations of paint including hand making lake pigments and other natural dyes mixed with various oils and
loday, Demers still uses this technique to create shear transparent hand crafted oil paint, allowing his subject matter to radiate and glow. Ingredients such as crushed Lapis Lazuli ano Micronized Pearl often are used to create his now well recognized colour palette. In his early career Demers achieved notoriety with representation at well famed galleries like Mixea Greens and Prince on Prince.
Although Demers is best known for his figure work both in shotography and all paint, lanascapes like sand dunes anc sodles of water often play a role in nis repertoire

Artist Statement:
Pleasure Centers is a collection of memories captured on film. Seemingly mundane splinters of time that aroused me in moments of grief, guilt, fear, and isolation. They are my reminder that a moss covered cinder block, a broken down car, another woman’s shelves full of high end perfumes; can prove more potent and less poisonous than the contents of my medicine cabinet.
Artist Bio:
Brittany has spent most of her life as a multidisciplinary theatre artist and performer. Upon moving to Provincetown, she was gifted her grandmother's vintage film camera and began using it as a means to connect with the landscapes and people of her new home. This sparked a new passion for this art form. To go from the observed to the observer, has been a transformative and freeing process. Her photography work has been featured in Savoir Flare, Out Magazine, Shoot it With Film, and SuperFroot. She currently works as a performer all about Provincetown and is so grateful to The Commons for the opportunity to share this lesser-known side of her artistic practice.

The work is about place and time. Pausing in the moment. Taking a breath. Offering the viewer an experience, of expansion, a vision, a storyline, the inspiration of place and time and memory, of presence. A vision of inquiry, a relationship which probably has gone unnoticed with the sky, the weather, quietly defining our life, our story. Our daily relationship. This work is to take you inside the expansion, inside the vision, inside the memory, inside the feeling and inside the emotion. Thank you for your time. I hope you enjoy the experience. In celebration of this year's Jimmy Lee's Fashion Show: London Calling, The Provincetown Commons invites Outer Cape artists to participate in The Queens and The Flamboyant Kings, a community exhibition honoring the bold, the glamorous, and the delightfully extravagant.
We're seeking artwork that celebrates the spirit of royalty, camp, opulence, spectacle, wit, fearless self-expression, and unapologetic extravagance. Think glamour, fantasy, theatricality, excess, and a joyful disregard for life's restraints. Whether playful or provocative, elegant or outrageous, we encourage artists to interpret the theme in their own unique way. As this is a curated themed exhibition, submitted work should clearly reflect the show's spirit and aesthetic; artwork that does not align with the theme or overall vision may not be accepted.

Have you been wanting to shift your writing process and community? To find connection as you work on your own, personal projects? Come to The Commons and spend a couple of hours in collaborative creation. We will have a bowl of prompts in case anyone needs one, and we will be together, writing. We will say hello, set our intentions, set a timer for 30 min for writing, then talk and stretch for 5 minutes or so. And repeat. The last 15 minutes, we can share either new work or ideas. Working in the presence and community of others can radically shift what we do, even if we don't share "output" or "product." Let's just be writers together in a room for a couple of hours.

Whispers of the Wharf At the edge of land and sea, Provincetown exists in a constant state of becoming—shaped by shifting tides, changing light, and the quiet rhythm of daily life. Whispers of the Wharf is a photographic exploration of the transient beauty found in these in-between spaces. Through an emphasis on light and shadow, this body of work focuses on moments that are easily overlooked: a gesture between strangers, the brief glow of sunlight on weathered wood, reflections created & erased by the tides. The wharf serves as both subject and metaphor—a place of arrival and departure, of work and wandering, of history layered with contemporary life. The photographs reflect Provincetown as it is today: alive with people that are drawn to the beauty and the magic that define its spirit and allure. This series invites viewers to slow down, see what I see and observe what might otherwise go unnoticed... the fleeting moments that linger just long enough to be captured before they’re gone.
Artist Bio
Deb Perry, is an Art Director and photographer based in North Truro who finds inspiration along the Outer Cape, especially in Provincetown. She’s drawn to the textures, light, shadow and everyday moments that give a place its personality. Her work often highlights small details—worn surfaces, close-ups, and quiet scenes—that reflect both history, and document a place in time. Her work has been featured in several group exhibits including locally at The Commons, FAWC and PAAM. Deb recently received 2nd and 3rd place awards for her photographs featured in the 2026 Provincetown Independent Photo Annual.

Artist Statement:
The moon paints with sand at the edges of the sea. She has different colors available: the blues and greens of the water itself, and within the sand: iron, algae, quartz, and more. She moves it into patterns using gravity and fluid dynamics through the water. Clearly an abstract expressionist, she is not inspired by but perhaps an inspiration for Helen Frankenthaler, Jasper Johns, Elaine de Kooning, and other artists of the movement, who inspired me. It was a joy to find I could have relationship to them using photography. Many of the painters who inspired me throughout my life spent time in New York and Provincetown, as I have, and I offer these works an homage. My photographs can be disorienting, but pointing the lens straight down removes the human perspective and alters context. With this disorientation, I hope to prompt in viewers a memory or emotion, instead of the intellect. These abstractions defy scale, evoking not only paintings but also x-rays, or microscopic images showing bodies in all our intimate interior beauty, plants, or even celestial objects. The laws of fluid dynamics are truly universal. I cannot imagine I would ever stop doing this. I go as often as possible because this work causes real wonder in me, like a child, which brings me joy. Every tide, season, and weather condition is different. It is a process of constant discovery and creativity as I find the best point of view to document the moon's beautiful work.
Artist Bio:
Amy Durocher is an award-winning fine art photographer living in Wellfleet, Massachusetts, (Wampanoag Territory). She has practiced photography for over 40 years and currently works primarily on aerial abstract photographs of intertidal zones as well as lake ice. Durocher has exhibited her work in numerous juried gallery and museum exhibits throughout the US. Amy Durocher has given talks on her photography in the Artist's Talk on Art series and at the Atlanta International School. Her work has been published in the Provincetown Independent Inaugural Photography Annual, and the 2026 the Communication Arts 2026 Photography Annual in July. Durocher attended the New York State Summer School of the Arts, Parsons School of Design, NYU’s School of Professional Studies, and Maine Media Workshops and College. Jean Fogg-Brock works in the style of Abstract Expression, starting with the application of various collage materials, tearing at magazines , old books, maps, cardboard and found refuse. The surfaces of her work tend to be tactile, gritty and textural, exploring the use of latext and oil paint simultaneously, frequently adding plaster to the mix. A recurring exploration for Jean is the action and outcome that intuitively happens between the surfaces she creates. The underlaying surface of mark-making and gestural brush strokes often run wild, colorful and free, while the muted top layer struggles to calm, conceal and veil over the chaotic undercurrent. This approach allows for only some of the hidden shinier treasures to escape, endure, and resist suppression. As if to quieten the brain chatter from concerns of today’s fast-pace world and provide the viewer and herself a peaceful place to land.
Artist Bio
Jean Fogg-Brock has lived and worked in the west end of Provincetown with her husband Chip Brock for 30 years where they share a studio. Chip built the studio with 4 floors to provide for each of their multi-disciplinary interests such as collage and painting, printmaking, encaustic, mosaics and wood sculpture. Jean watched her Mother’s lovely portrait-making and still-life painting, as well as worked for her Father’s Silk-Screen Printing business in Boston for most of her youth, inspiring a life-long affinity for the print-making process and combining different techniques into her painting. Jean has been jury-selected for over a dozen exhibitions affiliated with PAAM, Cape Cod Museum of Art, The Printmakers of Cape Cod, and The Larken Gallery. She was a student at The Art Institute of Boston mentored by Barbara Apel, Jason Berger and Peter Hoss. She has enjoyed classes at FAWC and Castle Hill and was a featured artist in Boston Voyager Magazine, Local Stories. Jean is a member of The Sail Loft Artist Collective.

LONDON CALLING Fashion Show Edition

Join us for a hands-on workshop where you'll learn the art of handmade silk-screen printing and create original wearable artwork inspired by this year's Fashion Show theme: LONDON CALLING. You'll learn a simple, reusable silk-screen process that can be replicated at home to print on fabric and paper. Participants should come with ideas for their screen. High contrast imagery. About Charlie Welch
Charlie Welch is a multidisciplinary artist, photographer, prop stylist, set designer, and co-founder of the NY Queer Zine Fair. With decades of experience spanning fashion, photography, installation, and commercial design, Charlie brings a playful, hands-on approach to making art. His work explores identity, storytelling, constructed environments, and personal expression through photography, sculpture, collage, and community-based creative projects.

My work is inspired by the shifting light on the cape. Where the land meets the sea. Color is my muse and my hope is the viewer can gain some joy from my work.
Linda Turoczi fell in love with the cape as a small child. She has painted and studied with many fine teachers. Her childhood memories of summers in Yarmouthport are among her favorite. As a colorist and plein air painter, the teachers from Castle Hill, Cape School and PAAM included Rob Longley, Charles Sovek and Joan Hopkins. At home, she studied with Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts teachers; Jon Redmond, Martin Campos and Giovanni Cassedi. She has won awards in juried shows: Audubon Show, Audubon, Pa., Schuylkill River Art Show, Montgomery County College, Jenkins Arboretum Show, Delaware Valley Art League . She has been represented by galleries on the Cape as well as the Philadelphia area. She has participated in group shows with Addison Art Gallery; Hopper Show, After Thoreau, Mary Heaton Vorse House. This is her second show at The Commons. Linda lives in the Philadelphia area and is grateful to be able to return to Truro every year. She spends her winters painting the landscapes of Pennsylvania and in summer, the beauty of the cape. She has two lovely granddaughters that love color and the outdoors.

“Joe’s Farmers Market” Joe Trepiccione returns to his artistic roots with a series that celebrates sharp‑focus realism. Joe’s Farmer Market presents a charming collection of small trompe‑l’oeil still lifes, each one capturing the playful abundance of fruits and vegetables you might find at a local market. Trepiccione arranges his subjects within shadowbox‑like settings, creating the illusion of three‑dimensional space and a quiet moment suspended in time. ARTIST BIO:
Joe Trepiccione graduated from Paier College of Art / The Whitney School of Art in New Haven, Connecticut, where he studied classical art under renowned instructors Ken Davies, Paul Lipp, and Peter Poskas. Now based in Provincetown, Massachusetts, Joe lives and works within the vibrant Outer Cape arts community. He is an active member of the Provincetown Art Association and Museum and has exhibited at the Provincetown Commons. He is also listed in the Provincetown Artist Registry. Joe’s fine artwork has been featured in numerous exhibitions throughout New England and across the United States. For ten years, he was represented by the Hutson Gallery in Provincetown. Working primarily in oil, watercolor, and pen-and-ink drawing, Joe focuses on subjects rooted in nature, architecture, and still life, bringing a classical sensibility to contemporary observation.

Artist Statement:
As a fine art landscape photographer, Lance Colby Hatch’s work centers on Provincetown and the Cape Cod National Seashore. Hatch approaches photography as both documentation and emotional interpretation, seeking to preserve the fleeting relationship between light, weather, and place. Returning repeatedly to the same locations across seasons and years, Hatch builds long-form visual narratives rather than isolated images. With the viewer in mind, he focuses his lens on moments that evoke a sense of wonder, grace, and the ephemeral. His work emphasizes scale, atmosphere, and subtle tonal transitions, often capturing moments of quiet stillness that invite prolonged viewing.
Artist Bio:
Hatch studied photography at the Germain School of Photography at The Center for the Media Arts in Manhattan. He has expanded his Provincetown body of work into one significant publishing project: the luxury fine art photography book BELONGING : PROVINCETOWN. His current exhibition features images from his book alongside selections from his ongoing LANCEscapes series. Hatch has been a resident of Provincetown for twenty-seven years.

I grew up in central Connecticut. I spent my professional career living near Boston, working for eleven years at Massachusetts General Hospital. I then worked privately as a dentist and orthodontist and taught part-time for twenty five years at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. For the past thirty-five years I have studied and evolved in the field of Fine Arts and have been supported by my family, friends and patrons. I was drawing and painting by age 9. I watched whatever painting shows that were televised without realizing this was a secular interest. While I was encouraged to pursue another profession that had an artistic element to it, I spent my free time creating my own work. On my down time I studied at the Montserrat College of Visual Art, the Decordova Museum School, The Cape Cod School of Art, The Provincetown Fine Arts Workshop, and the Museum School of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. My studios are in Truro MA and in Sonoma, CA.
I was originally inspired by work in sculpture and pastel. I found a preference in oil, stayed and studied. It has been a lifelong visual and technique evolution. I do plein-aire for small works and studio painting from sketches, drawings and designs from my imagination which I connect to scenes.
My work is influenced by the subleties of color and light which have a visual effect and mark my memory and emotions. It represents a serene moment in which one is absorbed into the scene. This opens internal senses. My work is done through the joy of creating a scene that is captivating.
I am inspired by the painting of William Turner, Edward Hopper, Vincent Van Gogh, Claud Monet, Frederick Remington and many more. The passion I feel in my work is at times inspired by music. My goal is in the visual and psychological experience of creating.
I enjoy sharing that experience with others as shared connection to our unusual world.

Have you been wanting to shift your writing process and community? To find connection as you work on your own, personal projects? Come to The Commons and spend a couple of hours in collaborative creation. We will have a bowl of prompts in case anyone needs one, and we will be together, writing. We will say hello, set our intentions, set a timer for 30 min for writing, then talk and stretch for 5 minutes or so. And repeat. The last 15 minutes, we can share either new work or ideas. Working in the presence and community of others can radically shift what we do, even if we don't share "output" or "product." Let's just be writers together in a room for a couple of hours.

Artist Statement:
As an avid gardener I find inspiration for my work in my own garden and in the many beautiful gardens all around town. In this exhibition, all of the cyanotypes were made with plants that I grew. I first tried my hand at the white line print last summer, and for the last 10 months have been taking a deep dive – experimenting with scale and color to try to find my voice in a storied technique.
Artist Bio:
After graduating from Bowdoin College with a degree in Visual Art and Art History, my artistic practice went largely dormant for decades until moving to Provincetown in 2017. Since then I have experimented with various media and taken classes at PAAM, FAWC and Castle Hill.

Artist Statement
I’m a Provincetown-based painter working primarily in acrylic, with some oil and mixed media. Living on the Outer Cape has deeply shaped my work—the light, the architecture, and the quiet rhythm of coastal life continually influence what I choose to paint. I’m drawn to everyday subjects like local streets, buildings, and still lifes, focusing on color and atmosphere to capture not just how things look, but how they feel. My Ducky series brings in a more playful side, using humor and character while still exploring composition and color. Across all of my work, I’m interested in creating something familiar but personal—paintings that reflect where I live and invite others to connect with those moments in their own way.

Wayne Briggs is a Provincetown-based contemporary realist painter working in acrylic, oil, and mixed media. His work captures the quiet intensity of everyday moments—where light, color, and memory intersect—transforming familiar subjects into evocative visual experiences. Born and raised in southern Rhode Island, Briggs brings a background in computer science, graphic design, and advertising to his artistic practice, blending traditional techniques with a strong sense of composition and modern design. After more than two decades in the creative industry, he fully committed to painting in 2023. His work reflects a continued exploration of place, atmosphere, and personal narrative, honoring the timeless qualities of representational art while embracing a contemporary, expressive edge.
