Workshop Description:
Providing an accessible, affordable, and portable modality for artists of all skill levels, gel plate printmaking makes complex, layered fine art printing achievable right at home. This winter session introduces the traditional art of Chine-Collé—bonding lightweight papers, salvaged tissue, or discarded holiday wrapping paper seamlessly onto the main print during the pulling process. Participants will learn to manipulate positive and negative compositional space, using repurposed decorative papers to add sudden, dramatic shifts in color and tactile texture. By fusing collage directly with fresh paint layers on the gel plate, attendees will leave with uniquely upcycled seasonal impressions. Bring used thin wrapping paper!

As an accessible, affordable, and portable modality, gel plate printmaking offers endless versatility for artists looking to blend mixed media without needing specialized, bulky equipment. In this spring workshop, participants will push the boundaries of traditional printmaking by learning to execute precise charcoal and pastel image transfers directly through the plate surface. Attendees will master how dry drawing media interacts with the gel layer, successfully transferring delicate floral sketches and expressive linework onto their chosen paper substrates. The session concludes with a demonstration on proper plate preservation and thorough mineral oil cleaning to ensure continuous, crisp transfers for future projects. Bring your imagination!

Outwash: Cape Cod’s Story of Change is an interdisciplinary exhibition and panel discussion that tells the story of the natural and cultural history of Cape Cod while considering its future. This exhibition invites five artists into dialogue, all of whom hold a personal and artistic relationship to Cape Cod. The resulting work engages with the richness and depth of this place while considering the intersecting challenges of climate change and environmental degradation, the ongoing housing crisis, immigration, and what it means to love your community in an imperfect world.

ARTIST STATEMENT
My work begins with curiosity and a love of discovery. Long walks along the shore and marshes of Cape Cod lead me to sea life and treasures—the horseshoe crab, oysters, fish, and other creatures that catch my eye. I am fascinated by their intricate textures, markings, and individuality. I am not interested in simply reproducing what I see, but in exploring each subject’s extraordinary beauty, resilience, and fragility. Horseshoe crabs have especially captured my attention. Their ancient history and unmistakable form draw me in, as does their remarkable blue blood. Indigo has become a recurring color in my paintings, a subtle connection to something that is both visually striking and biologically unique. Working with watercolor, a medium that resists control, informs my process and gives me a deeper awareness of uncertainty. I allow watercolor and other materials to move and interact rather than controlling the outcome. My process is spontaneous, with experimentation and an element of surprise guiding each piece. Not having so much control can be freeing. Instead of following someone else’s way of painting, I have found my own way—allowing the materials to respond to one another and letting the painting evolve. Nature is always changing, and I think life is much the same. There are things we can plan and things we simply have to respond to. The unpredictability of watercolor has become part of that experience for me. For me, painting is a way of slowing down, looking closely, and accepting that not everything can be controlled. Each painting becomes a balance between thought and surprise, structure and spontaneity. The octopus, although not native to Cape Cod, eventually found its way into my work as well. Perhaps that is fitting. My artistic journey has never been about staying within a set path, but about following what captures my attention and seeing where it leads. The sea life I paint connects me to something much older than myself. These ancient creatures have endured through constant change, shaped by the shifting of the tides and the world around them. For me, this is the essence of Ebb and Flow—a timeless connection between ancient sea life and the shifting of the tides.Caren Zane EBB and FLOW
ARTIST BIO
Caren Zane is a Cape Cod watercolorist who has worked in a variety of artistic mediums throughout her career. She studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and became a self-taught potter and glass mosaic artist. She taught mosaics for 15 years, and her mosaic work can be found throughout New England.
For the past eight years, Caren has focused on painting, developing an unconventional approach to watercolor that combines watercolor, inks, acrylic, pen and ink, and other materials. Inspired by the beaches, marshes, and waterways of Cape Cod, her work explores sea life and the unexpected treasures she discovers along the way. Horseshoe crabs, oysters, fish, and octopus are recurring subjects, drawn from her fascination with their intricate textures, markings, individuality, and history.
Caren has exhibited at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum (PAAM) for the past four years. Her work is held in private collections throughout New England.

The workshop will explore how tarot can be used as a tool for self-reflection, personal awareness, creativity, and asking meaningful questions about our lives.
With 78 cards and layers of symbolism and meaning, learning tarot takes time and practice. These weekly sessions offer a welcoming environment to become more comfortable with the cards while learning from the perspectives and interpretations of others.

Susan Mitchell has been studying and reading tarot for several decades. She has taught tarot for three years through Winter Wednesdays in Provincetown and has led a weekly tarot club at the local library for three years.

The OUTWASH Panel Discussion will bring together artists, writers, performers, and community members from across Cape Cod for an evening of performance and conversation exploring art, the environment, and our collective future.
The program will feature geologist and singer-songwriter Katie Castagno, who will perform songs from her recent album, Our Queer Elders. Through storytelling and song, the album celebrates queer history and honors the lives and experiences of queer elders.
Writer and artist Milisa Moses will also read an excerpt from her forthcoming debut book, Ocean Effect: A Year of Nature and Art on Cape Cod, a work that explores the intersections of nature, creativity, and life on Cape Cod.
Together, the artists will offer distinct perspectives on the ways art can help us understand place, preserve stories, engage with environmental change, and imagine a shared future. The discussion invites the Cape Cod community into a broader conversation about our shared identity and relationship to the places we call home.

KARL PACKARD ARTIST STATEMENT:
The work mediates the link between landscape and the human form. The dynamic relationship between figure and ground provides order, significance, and meaning with which to understand and appreciate an artwork.
KARL PACKARD ARTIST BIO:
Like many, Karle Packard started painting and drawing as a child and has been doing both ever since. He had a successful career as an architect, ultimately discovering that one of the main reasons he became an architect was that he liked to draw. When an undergraduate at Columbia, majoring in art history, he worked as teaching assistant for Chiang Yee, “The Silent Traveler”, in a class on Chinese watercolor painting. Yee’s guidance and encouragement profoundly affected the context of Karle’s artistic endeavors. On and off since childhood, Karle has been present on the Outer Cape, where he continues to draw and paint, and to learn.
LESLIE DEALY ARTIST STATEMENT:
I am interested in portraying the human figure in an abstracted rendition with a bright color palette, capturing movement and light

ARTIST STATEMENT:
In political discourse, the humanity of individuals often gets overlooked. With legal challenges to the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community increasing almost daily—particularly regarding the right to marry—my goal with this portrait series is to highlight the human beings whose lives are impacted by politics, policy, and law.
ARTIST BIO:
Ron Amato is a Professor in the Photography and Related Media Department at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. In addition to his extensive career in commercial photography, Ron has published three monographs, and his work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally. His most recent book, Artists of Provincetown (2024), is a collection of eighty-four portraits of artists with strong connections to Provincetown, Massachusetts, created over an eight-year period. This work culminated in an exhibition at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum in the summer of 2024. Ron holds a BFA in Photography from the School of Visual Arts, NYC, and an MFA in New Media Art and Performance from Long Island University.

ARTIST STATEMENT:
As advances in AI and other generative software continue to blur the lines between reality and fiction, I have found a renewed inspiration in my work from the Arts and Crafts Movement. In this series, a strong focus on quilting and folk art underscores each piece. Drawing upon memories from growing up in a household where exploring creativity was a daily experience, I have sought to celebrate craftsmanship of the past and recall work made by human hands.
ARTIST BIO:
Joe Dill was born and raised in Northeast Ohio on the shores of Lake Erie. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Design and Technology from Northern Kentucky University. Joe has exhibited his work throughout the State of Ohio and the Northern Kentucky region and is excited for this to be his first exhibition in Provincetown. He is a mixed media artist who primarily works with wood reeds that have defined his work for the last decade. His abstracted, textured works are heavily influenced by the teachings of Rowena Reed Kostello who emphasized the importance of balance and harmony. She stressed that there is a structure to visual relationships that serves as the underlying principle of all art and design. Joe regularly takes inspiration from his environment, working to abstract architecture and landscapes to highlight the balance that surrounds us every day.

Artist Statement:
"The Art of Becoming" is a curated group exhibition that explores the profound and varied expressions of inner strength and resilience following trauma and recovery. Bringing together a diverse group of artists working in painting, sculpture and mixed media the show features individuals who have each navigated personal or collective trauma and channeled their experiences into creative expression. Thought trauma leaves it's mark, it does not define us; this exhibition showcases art created during, as a product of, and in the aftermath of pain, serving as a testament to the powerful, often quiet, act of survival and transformation.

Dana Demers is a New Hampshire born Artist living and working on Cape Cod for nearly two decades.
During his undergraduate studies Demers studied painting and art nistory, Talling in love with the ola master style of translucen lowing layers. Originally trained as a water colour artist, Demer found it difficult to break into the modern wet on wet and opaque style of oil painting that still trends. Determined, Demers started exploring oil formulations of paint including hand making lake pigments and other natural dyes mixed with various oils and
loday, Demers still uses this technique to create shear transparent hand crafted oil paint, allowing his subject matter to radiate and glow. Ingredients such as crushed Lapis Lazuli ano Micronized Pearl often are used to create his now well recognized colour palette. In his early career Demers achieved notoriety with representation at well famed galleries like Mixea Greens and Prince on Prince.
Although Demers is best known for his figure work both in shotography and all paint, lanascapes like sand dunes anc sodles of water often play a role in nis repertoire

Beginner through advanced readers are welcome. Participants are encouraged to bring their own tarot deck. The workshop will primarily use the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, but all decks are welcome.
Workshop Overview
Practicing Tarot is an opportunity to explore tarot reading in a supportive group setting, beginning with reading cards for ourselves and eventually practicing with others.
Working together allows participants to develop their understanding of the cards, strengthen their intuition, and gain confidence through regular practice. The workshop will explore how tarot can be used as a tool for self-reflection, personal awareness, creativity, and asking meaningful questions about our lives.
With 78 cards and layers of symbolism and meaning, learning tarot takes time and practice. These weekly sessions offer a welcoming environment to become more comfortable with the cards while learning from the perspectives and interpretations of others.
About the Workshop Leader
Susan Mitchell has been studying and reading tarot for several decades. She has taught tarot for three years through Winter Wednesdays in Provincetown and has led a weekly tarot club at the local library for three years.
Susan approaches tarot as a tool for personal and intuitive exploration. Her teaching emphasizes developing a relationship with the cards through consistent practice, curiosity, and conversation in a supportive group setting.

Providing an accessible, affordable, and portable modality for artists of all skill levels, gel plate printmaking makes complex, layered fine art printing achievable right at home. This winter session introduces the traditional art of Chine-Collé—bonding lightweight papers, salvaged tissue, or discarded holiday wrapping paper seamlessly onto the main print during the pulling process. Participants will learn to manipulate positive and negative compositional space, using repurposed decorative papers to add sudden, dramatic shifts in color and tactile texture. By fusing collage directly with fresh paint layers on the gel plate, attendees will leave with uniquely upcycled seasonal impressions. Bring used thin wrapping paper!

Like a message in a bottle washing ashore at the edge of the world, the Provincetown Zine + Art Book Fair celebrates the stories we make, share, trade, collect, and pass along.
Whether you have been making zines for decades, have an independently published book to share, or have never folded a sheet of paper into a zine before, you are invited to take part.
TABLE AT THE ZINE + ART BOOK FAIR
Bring your zines, artist books, independently published works, prints, multiples, comics, and other small-edition publications to show, sell, swap, and share. As part of participating in the fair, each artist will contribute one copy of their zine to the collection, which will become part of the Provincetown Public Library’s collection.
*Each participant will be provided with a 5' x 2' table to display and present their work during the fair.

Zines have a long history as an accessible, independent way for people to tell their own stories and circulate ideas outside traditional publishing.
Often handmade, self-published, photocopied, printed, folded, stapled, stitched, or assembled by hand, zines can be about almost anything: art, identity, poetry, politics, photography, music, comics, community, personal histories, humor, or everyday observations.
There are no rules about what a zine has to look like.
At their heart, zines are about making something yourself and putting it into the world.
Provincetown has long been a place where artists, writers, outsiders, and independent thinkers have come to create and exchange ideas. This festival celebrates that spirit while introducing a new generation of makers to the possibilities of independent publishing.

Presented alongside the Zine + Art Book Fair, Message in a Bottle is an open-call group exhibition exploring storytelling, communication, memory, place, identity, and the human impulse to leave something behind.
To participate in the Open Call Group Art Exhibition, you must also submit a zine or art book to be featured in the fair. Artists are invited to submit work that complements the themes, stories, ideas, and artwork found within the art books and zines featured at the festival.
Our hope is to bring the artwork from the pages to life, creating a fully realized visual storytelling exhibition where printed works and original artwork come together.
Artwork Requirements:
All work must be registered in advance, arrive ready to hang, and measure no larger than 36" × 36".
Shipped artwork must include a prepaid return shipping label and return shipping information. The Provincetown Commons cannot be responsible for artwork lost or damaged in transit.

As she droned on about their art collection, Dashi felt his eyes glaze over. He tried to distract himself by focusing on her wardrobe. Is that some sort of dress with an attached cape? he wondered. No doubt it’s Chanel or some other hideously expensive brand. The caped dress is certainly on trend, yet somehow, she manages to transform it into something frumpy. She really does have superpowers. What would her superhero be named? he mused, Frumpiosa? Lady Frumpus? No Madame La Frump maybe? His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of Daphne laughing somewhere in the distance. Clearly she had recovered. It felt like hours had gone by. He looked at his watch to see it had only been ten minutes. God-these people! Where the hell is Daphne? How dare she be off having fun without me? Suddenly a hideous thought occurred to him, She’s escaped. And abandoned me!

From Chapter Four: The Walk of Shame
It was barely daybreak and the thin light made it difficult to navigate the empty fondamenta in the thick fog. It seemed to have removed all the colors from the city. The rio which had been a gorgeous turquoise yesterday was now a dull, navy blue. The vibrant ochres and terra- cottas were just a pale imitation of themselves and all the buildings that had looked so romantically decayed yesterday looked shabby and dirty. It was almost as if all of Venice was mourning Benji’s death. Daphne headed for the landmark of the brick campanile of the church of San Barnaba hovering over the fondamenta. She knew it would lead her toward the campo of San Barnaba and eventually the Ca’ Rezzonico vaporetto stop. But even the church belltower had been transformed. Its distinctive pinecone-shaped spire had disappeared into the mist and all that remained was the blurry vertical of the tower. Was it even the San Barnaba campanile? she wondered. The fog was so thick that the street just ended, there was nothing ahead or behind, almost as if she was suspended in time and space. Daphne felt uneasy and stopped to look at her phone to orient herself, but there was no reception. She thought she heard footsteps. She turned to look behind her. No one.

ARTIST STATEMENT:
For 36 hours, I followed a local busker through the streets, observing the spaces between performance and pause. The camera became a way of staying close—of noticing the gestures, silences, encounters, and small rituals that might otherwise pass unnoticed. This series is less concerned with the spectacle of street performance than with the person within it. Through moments of movement and stillness, the photographs explore presence, place, and the fleeting connections between a musician and the ever-changing world around them. What emerges is a portrait shaped not by performance alone, but by the quiet spaces surrounding it: a life lived in public, while moments of solitude remain just beneath the surface.
ARTIST BIO:
Jen Zee is a Provincetown photographer, teacher, theater kid, art-world wanderer, and general participant in the beautiful chaos that is life at the tip of the Cape. Behind the camera, they worked with the Boatslip, Provincetown Magazine, The Provincetown Theater, and for a variety of special events documenting the people, personalities, sunsets, shenanigans, and everyday magic that make Provincetown unlike anywhere else. Their work has been featured in GayCities, Boston Spirit Magazine, The Provincetown Independent, and The Boston Globe. By day, they teach four-year-olds at the Provincetown IB World Schools, where they’re reminded daily that imagination is serious business—and glitter is sometimes just part of the curriculum. When they’re not photographing or teaching, you’ll likely find them somewhere in Provincetown’s wonderfully tangled theater and artist community: making something, helping make something, or enthusiastically wandering into something they absolutely did not plan on doing. They believe Provincetown is best experienced with an open heart, a curious eye, and a camera nearby.

My recent acrylics on panels and paper represent a synthesis of the soul: a personal exploration of life on the Outer Cape. They are a visual fusion of self and environment; the body/mind connection; the comfort and beauty of home; the individuality and immortality of painted images. I paint whatever moves me at any given time, with form and feeling. Painting is color in all its myriad methods and combinations: the light and character of Provincetown at the end of a fulfilling day, depending on the mood and weather; the excitement and relaxation of always looking, both inside and outside, keeps up the momentum. ARTIST STATEMENT:
My work is rooted in the traditions of quilting, craft, and textile-making, and I use them to explore memories, identity, activism, community, and the complicated spaces between the personal and the political. I am drawn to the inherent tension of quilting being both intimate and public, domestic labor and fine art, and both a solitary practice and one that has historically brought people together. I work primarily with fabric, thread, found textiles, photographs, and words. I am interested in what happens when familiar quilting techniques are stripped down, rearranged, or paired with unexpected materials and ideas. My quilts can be playful, irreverent, political, and deeply personal, focusing on the stories we carry and the things we choose to preserve. I believe that every stitch is a small act of connection. Stephanie is deeply engaged in her community, serving on local nonprofit and arts boards and volunteering to support children, education, and the arts. She is a former president of the Cambridge Modern Quilt Guild and a co-leader of Provincetown Girl Scout Troop 74526. Raising her two children in Provincetown, she is especially passionate about building creative, inclusive, and connected communities for families. Her work is rooted in the belief that making and repairing can be both an act of connection and a form of community care.

Artist Statement:
Laurie Sheffield is a painter, printmaker and collage artist, living most of the year in Cambridge, MA and sometimes in Provincetown. After studying art and English at Cornell University, her further art experience includes study at the Museum School, Massachusetts College of Art, PAAM and the Fine Arts Work Center. Laurie teaches printmaking at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education and has a studio at Shepherd & Maudsleigh in Newton, MA. Her work has been shown at CCAE, the Nave Gallery in Somerville, PAAM, and the Cambridge Art Association. This is her first show at the Commons.

What Remains Afloat grew from a recurring image in Dean H. Katica’s work: the solitary boat.
Small against an expansive sea and sky, the boat becomes more than a vessel. It becomes a metaphor for human vulnerability and, particularly, for innocence confronted by forces vastly larger than itself. It carries the emotional foundation of this body of work: grief mixed with empathy, helplessness, and a stubborn desire for hope.
There is fragility in these paintings, but rarely surrender. The boat keeps floating.
The exhibition asks what remains when circumstances beyond our control strip away safety, certainty, home, and the ordinary rhythms of life. What remains of innocence? What remains of our humanity? And when confronted with the suffering of others—particularly children and civilians caught in armed conflict—what do we do with the helplessness we feel?
For Katica, What Remains Afloat is an attempt to transform some of that helplessness into action. Proceeds from the sale of works in the exhibition will be donated to World Central Kitchen, supporting its humanitarian work providing food and relief to people affected by the humanitarian emergency in Gaza, Palestine.
The danger faced by those carrying out this amazing work was brought into devastating focus on April 1, 2024, when an Israeli military strike in Gaza killed seven World Central Kitchen aid workers. WCK temporarily suspended its operations following their deaths before returning to Gaza and continuing its efforts to provide meals to Palestinians in need.
What Remains Afloat is ultimately not an exhibition about despair. It is about what survives it: empathy, human connection, resilience, and the stubborn persistence of HOPE.
The little red boat remains afloat.

Dean H. Katica is a contemporary artist whose work explores color, atmosphere, memory, and the quiet emotional narratives found in everyday moments. His paintings move between figurative work, landscape, and still life, combining expressive brushwork, rich texture, abstraction, and unexpected color to create images that feel both familiar and dreamlike.
Recurring imagery - solitary boats, coastal landscapes, architecture, and reflections—becomes a visual language for exploring solitude, connection, resilience, vulnerability, and belonging. Beneath the beauty and often luminous color of Katica’s work lies a deeper emotional current: grief mixed with empathy, helplessness, and a stubborn desire for hope.
Turquoise, cadmium red, and luminous contrasts form a recognizable visual language throughout his work. Rather than simply depicting a scene, Katica seeks to capture the feeling that remains after the moment has passed—the tension between beauty and sorrow, vulnerability and resilience, helplessness and hope.

My work explores the always changing sea and shifting sands which surround the Outer Cape. From gentle waters brushing the shoreline, to crashing waves in all their fury. When I turn away from the beaches I’m drawn to the marshes at lands’ end and the three lighthouses dotting the shore. In all my works I strive to capture a moment in time and invite the viewers to pause, reflect, and find their own narratives within the work.
Artist Bio
Den Streeff attended F.I.T in New York City as a graphic artist student and worked in the industry for several years in Manhattan and Boston. He moved to Ptown in the early nineties and began to explore the finer arts along with creative writing. Over the years he attended courses in all kinds of mediums searching for his voice. More recently he studied working in charcoal/conte/graphite with Kathy Smith. He studied white line printing under Kathy as well, which she is renowned for. He has taken painting classes with Steve Kennedy working in acrylics. In 2023 he fell in love with soft pastels after having taking Eileen Casey’s class at the Creative Arts Center in Chatham. Since then, he has further his studies in pastels taking classes at The Cultural Center of Cape Cod studying under different teachers. This past year he won a Barbara Stone Scholarship to study under a master pastelist. He is a member of the Pastel Society of Cape Cod and is a member of PAAM.

My work is inspired by the landscapes of Provincetown, Wellfleet, and Truro—places that feel both timeless and alive. The dunes rise and shift, the houses stand a little crooked with history, and the people bring a warmth that connects it all. I’m drawn to these imperfections. Through my paintings, I try to capture not just the scene, but the feeling of being there.

Wendy Allen’s work explores the intersection of form, function, and daily ritual. Working in stoneware and porcelain, she creates pieces intended for use—objects that become part of everyday life, from shared meals to quiet moments at home. Influenced by her Danish roots, Allen is drawn to simplicity, balance, and the beauty of well-made, functional design. She builds surfaces through texture and layered glazes, creating depth and variation so that each piece feels both tactile and visually rich. As she works, Allen considers the eventual home of each piece: a table set for gathering, a softly lit evening with one of her luminaries, or a vase holding fresh flowers. Her practice is rooted in the belief that handmade objects gain meaning through use, and she is especially interested in the life her work takes on beyond the studio—living in other people’s homes and becoming part of their stories.

Artist Statement
I make art pieces using venetian plaster as my medium, focusing on pushing the boundaries of its traditional use as a decorative wall treatment. I like to play with the juxtapositions of incongruous textures, colors and shapes and am fascinated by the shimmer and energy that is invoked. The resulting imagery is mostly abstract and drawn from the found art of the everyday and the visual richness of my surroundings -- the power of the natural world as well as the complex patterns that emerge from the material world.
Artist Bio
Kathryn has been working internationally as a self-employed Decorative Artist since graduating from Brown University in 1983 with a B.A. in Studio Art. Aside from creating a wide variety of custom finishes, such as woodgraining and marbling to name a few, she has enriched her skills with courses in Gilding and decorative plaster finishes, and has studied Mosaics in Italy and at the Chicago Mosaic School. Her artwork is included in private collections, and she has shown in local exhibitions and in California.

Artist Statement:
Plato felt that beautiful objects incorporate proportion, harmony and unity among their parts. Walter's artwork strives to acknowledge Plato and envision simple, elegant and sensual works that evoke the natural places and figures their inspiration came from. When an appreciator of his art embraces the ‘sense of place’ in his work his mission is fulfilled. In his current series of oil / CWM paintings, his focus is to evoke the sensuality of men in a natural environment saturated in light and water - this new series 'Boy Beach Boys' are exercises using transparent layers of paint to convey this.
Artist Bio:
Making objects and paintings has been Walter’s life work from childhood through retirement. After graduating from MassArt his work for 10 years thereafter was as a scientific illustrator at Harvard’s Museum of Comparative Zoōlogy. Concurrently, he was employed as a horticulturist on the 16-acre estate of Ellen Paine, the daughter of renowned landscape architect Charles Eliot. This work fostered his further interest in the environment and led to obtaining a Master of Landscape Architecture degree. Professional work for a series of major landscape architecture firms utilized Walter’s talents in drawing to create visible representations for clients. His own painting in oil was pursued throughout his professional work, but it proliferated after retirement. Walter’s development of acrylic underpainting followed by transparent layers of oil / cold wax medium was used to develop the luminous light-filled canvases he is known for.

Priscilla enjoys the lushness and messiness of oil paint and the texture of rough surfaces showing through the stroke. Without an education in drawing, Priscilla is still surprised she can convey a subject that is recognizable without being photographic. She is excited by vibrant color, frustrated by the effort required to develop a piece, but calmed by the Zen focus required. She works largely from photographs of local subjects and her travels. She feels she is just scratching the surface of painting.
Artist Bio
Priscilla Jackett has lived year-round in Provincetown for over 56 years. Although taking many art history courses as a college undergraduate and enjoying the lively gallery scene in Provincetown, she only began painting in her late 40’s wanting to take advantage of the plethora of well-known painters living here. Painting very intermittently while working her day job, she began her studies with Gail Browne and Carole Westcott and participated occasionally in PAAM and Castle Hill workshops with Sal DelDeo, TJ Walton, Mark Adams, and Mary Giammarino, among others. In semi-retirement, she joined the COA workshops with Steve Kennedy. She retired in 2015 and began painting regularly with Jeanne Fogg-Brock and Mary Giammarino. She was accepted in a Members’ Juried show at PAAM and has shown in many Members Open shows, group shows at the annual Church of St Mary of the Harbor’s Art & Spirit Auction, The Commons, The Post Office Gallery in North Truro , the Larkin Gallery in Harwich as well as two solo exhibits, one at Seashore Point Residences and another at the Wellfleet Library. Her paintings are in many private collections.

Artist Statement:
Art is not psychology. Art is not illustration. Art is consequence.
I love to push paint around. I’m not really interested in any kind of morality in painting or teaching anybody anything. If someone sees any commentary in my work it is their interpretation. What I do is for myself, an arrangement of dark and light, composing lyrically with the pigments, the textures and the resulting forms. My paintings are about my state of mind. Totally lucid but non-rational. I am not comfortable with the term “abstract” in describing my work because it implies the manipulation of an existing structure or object. I rather like to consider my paintings contemporary artifacts of sorts. Souvenirs of an inward journey, having a unique vocabulary, with no conclusions, just conversations. My purpose, simply stated, is that I have none other than the process itself, standing alone as a means of contemplation and not as a mirror.
However, for the sake of the viewer and to quote Aldous Huxley “Every significant artist is a metaphysician, a propounder of beauty-truths and form theories.” But if there are beauty truths to be formed then the best that anyone can do is to hold space for that which is hard to define, utilizing open ended, responsive forms in the way that a parent holds the space for a child to play and to experience the world. This body of work illustrates that the real subject running through it is playfulness founded in the magic and mystery of the poetic experience.

Rosemary Broton Boyle is a visual artist specializing in Painting and 3D wall sculpture working at studios in the Boston and North Truro areas. The recipient of a Fullbright Fellowship she received her BFA from Syracuse University And her MFA from Goddard College in Vermont. She’s taught Art and Art History for 18 years in both the high school and college levels. Her work is included in the collections of Neiman Marcus, The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, Fidelity Investments, Suffolk University, Syracuse University, Liberty Mutual, St Elizabeths Hospital among many other businesses, law firms, restaurants and resorts.
She has exhibited her work in a multitude of venues including Audrey Pepper Gallery/Boston, Carson /Masouoka Gallery in Denver CO, Rice Pollack and the Oz Gallery/ Provincetown, Mass Art Boston, The Museum School/Boston, The Sequoia Collection in Santa Fe, NM, Attleboro Museum, PAM/Ptown, Duxbury Art Complex Museum, Art 3/NH, Jules Place/Boston , The Shillkamp Gallery At Clark University, St. Botophs Club/Boston, Kobalt Gallery, The Newton Art Center, Cambridge Art Association and the Concord Art Association. She is also represented in a myriad of residential collections.
Rosemary has also traveled extensively all over the world. Included in her travels she attended an encaustic workshop in Malaga, Spain. She studied art and language at the University of Kracow, in Poland and twice ventured to the Santa Raparata International School of Art in Florence, Italy to study printmaking.

This exhibition is dedicated to the power of place—specifically Provincetown. Here, land, ocean, and human presence have layered over time, leaving a continuous imprint. Past and present do not recede but remain visible, shimmering within the current moment.
The works in this show hold a contemplative space. They invite the viewer to pause, to reflect, and to enter into this quiet accumulation of experience—where memory, perception, and presence unfold together.
Artist Bio:
Susan Bernstein has 26 years as a ceramic artist and teacher at Mudflat in Somerville, MA and summer workshops at Castle Hill, Truro, MA. She has her ceramics studio in Provincetown and is also a resident artist at Mudflat. Susan is a hand builder primarily interested in making sculptural and conceptual work. She showed her conceptual work at AMP Gallery in Provincetown from 2012-2022. She had a solo show “Mud Garden" in 2025 at Zone7a Gallery in Provincetown. Susan holds a passion for the power of clay to have more than just functional beauty; it can also hold stories, questions, history, intentions and mystery.

Join us for a special screening of Anne Packard: An Artist’s Resolve, a documentary celebrating the extraordinary life, determination, and artistic legacy of Provincetown painter Anne Packard.
Following the screening, director Arthur Egeli will join us for a conversation and talkback about the film, Anne Packard’s remarkable story, and the making of the documentary.
All proceeds from the evening will benefit the Provincetown Art Gallery Association (PAGA), a project of The Provincetown Commons.

Have you been wanting to shift your writing process and community? To find connection as you work on your own, personal projects? Come to The Commons and spend a couple of hours in collaborative creation. We will have a bowl of prompts in case anyone needs one, and we will be together, writing. We will say hello, set our intentions, set a timer for 30 min for writing, then talk and stretch for 5 minutes or so. And repeat. The last 15 minutes, we can share either new work or ideas. Working in the presence and community of others can radically shift what we do, even if we don't share "output" or "product." Let's just be writers together in a room for a couple of hours.

In tandem with his current exhibition, 250 and Counting, artist and sculptor Thomas Faulkner joins us for an intimate artist talk exploring the ideas, materials, and creative process behind the eleven works on view.
Faulkner’s decades-long practice brings art into conversation with the political, religious, and cultural forces that shape our lives. Rooted in a history of activism and conceptual art, 250 and Counting asks viewers to consider where we have been, where we find ourselves now, and what we carry forward.
During the talk, Faulkner will discuss the conceptual framework behind the exhibition, his choice of media, and the personal and historical experiences that inform the work.
Join us for a thought-provoking conversation with the artist and an opportunity to experience this evocative exhibition through his eyes.

Artist Bio:
Thomas Faulkner is an artist with studios on Cape Cod and in Wyarno, Wyoming. Until a recent move to Massachusetts, he maintained studios in New York City for many years. Tom has created large site-specific sculpture (e.g. Public Art Fund, People Who Live… Bryant Park, NYC) and smaller three - dimensional sculpture – focused on political, religious and cultural issues. He uses photography both as a fine art and, with text, in conceptual work.
He has an MFA from Pratt Institute, a BA from Dartmouth College, and a MDiv from the Episcopal Theological School. He did independent studies at the San Francisco Art Institute and the New York Art Students League. His work has been reviewed in Art Forum, Art In America, New Art Examiner, Salt Lake Tribune, The New York Times, Provincetown Independent and others. His Stations of The Cross was featured on KCRW’s (LA) Art Talk.
He and his wife Brenda permanently relocated from New York City to Eastham in 2023 after renovating a family home. Their son Christopher lives in Victor, New York. They have two dogs, Alma and Bugsy.

Artist Statement:
When I was in college, three significant events influenced my direction as an artist: 1) The escalation of the war in Vietnam; 2) My first painting class taught by a young, energetic teacher whose abstract work was radiant with color; (3) Being mentored by an abstract expressionist painter (artist-in-residence) who, by turning out one print after another, forced me to question wherein lay creativity.
Nonetheless, the creative process gave me a freedom I had never experienced before. I enjoyed painting but wanted my art to connect with the activist world of which I was a part (civil rights work, teaching in a “ghetto” church in the South Bronx, humanitarian work in the Central African Republic, pro- Sandinista protests on the border with El Salvador, demonstrations against the Vietnam War, etc.).
Upon graduating from Dartmouth, I, therefore, declined acceptance into Yale’s MFA program and instead accepted a fellowship to the Episcopal Theological School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, eventually becoming an Episcopal priest. Later, I received an MFA from Pratt Institute (NYC) in sculpture and photography. My primary creative commitment has been to large scale, site-specific installations and conceptual work, all focused on political, religious and cultural issues. The smaller sculptures I’m showing at The Commons reflect these same concerns.

Artist Statement:
Surprises, learning ,emotional revelation and investigation are the core of my work. I usually start with fairly representational figures but as I work I change the figure. may wipe out an arm or a leg, add an extra hand or paint out the face. Challenging myself is an important aspect of the process. I like going to unknown places. I use the figure to explore relationships and the scope of human emotion. The formal approach is important in the process for me :judging shape ,color, line, constantly asking myself, how can I make this work?
Artist Bio:
I have been vacationing in Truro, Ma at my grandparents house since I was born. My dream to live here came true when I met my future husband on Ballston Beach. I soon moved up here in 2005 from Philadelphia. I became active in the robust art community here, showing at the Provincetown Art Museum, The Commons, What Theater and several other venues. My art education began at the University of the Americas in Mexico City .After one year. I returned to Philadelphia and over 20 years attended The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, The Philadelphia College of Art and a bachelors degree from Tyler School of Art. Over the years I painted a variety, the figure, landscapes ,flowers, abstracts and fabric constructions. My husband built me a studio next to our house in Truro. I had never painted to sell, but my aunt in Philadelphia aske if I would paint flowers to sell in her café. I thought" Wow, I can make some money at this" Well none of those paintings sold. I was so angry saying" I will never paint to sell" I pinned up large sheets of paper and began what is my mature art now, painting the figure. I was able using the accumulated skills of many years to express what you see in the work. This is my expression now.
