To date, Clarke has invested in more than 60 companies and 12 funds in North America and Europe. She has been creating opportunities for under-represented entrepreneurs by investing in companies that are either led by women of color or have women on their funding teams – even before it became fashionable to do so. As a key member of the investment community, she also advises entrepreneurs and innovators on launching companies, accessing capital, and leveraging the international network of investors.
Barbara serves on several boards, including Portfolia, an investment fund focused on women as venture capitalists, Founders First Capital Partners, an accelerator and finance firm that invests in a diverse group of founders and Boost, an artificial intelligence (AI) platform using computer vision technology.
Prior to launching The Impact Seat, Clarke spent more than a decade in management consulting firms, including KPMG and PwC and launched a nationwide nonprofit to support grieving children. She holds a bachelor’s degree in quantitative economics from Tufts University and master’s in international economics and finance from Brandeis University. A polyglot, she speaks several languages, including German, French and Italian.

Jill holds a BFA from Alfred University in Ceramics and studied Interior Design at the Boston Architecture Center. She thrives by being immersed with the art world, whether in the gallery or at her studio.
Jos Stumpe
After more than twenty years having put his creativity into translating other people’s ideas into word and image, Jos Stumpe began incorporating making art in his daily practice. At first his medium was ceramics; he did a BA Ceramic Design in Glasgow, Scotland. When he and his family in 2011 decided to move from Amsterdam in The Netherlands to New York City, he gave up his professional career as a writer and editor and immersed himself in the world of art.
At the National Academy School in New York, during a two-year Studio Intensive program, he explored other mediums: sculpture, painting, and printmaking. Always open to new challenges, enjoying his own studio space in Chelsea, Stumpe dived into the world of Mokuhanga, the Japanese technique of water-based woodblock printing. During the lockdown due to Covid-19, he started drawing with oil pastels. Over the years Stumpe created a body of work that is abstract in composition and has a great sense of color. His visual conversations ask the viewer to push the boundaries of abstract art, finding the personal in the non-representational.
In the summer of 2023 Stumpe found a new challenge in giving his artwork a second life by transferring it to fabrics and making clothes, bags and table decoration. A new design label was created: Wear My Art by Jos. With this turn of events, he came full circle back to one of his hobbies when he was a child: drawing fashion models.
Jos Stumpe and his wife Karen van Bergen divide their time between New York City and Provincetown.
