Workshop Description:
As an accessible, affordable, and portable modality, gel plate printmaking offers endless versatility for artists looking to blend mixed media without needing specialized, bulky equipment. In this spring workshop, participants will push the boundaries of traditional printmaking by learning to execute precise charcoal and pastel image transfers directly through the plate surface. Attendees will master how dry drawing media interacts with the gel layer, successfully transferring delicate floral sketches and expressive linework onto their chosen paper substrates. The session concludes with a demonstration on proper plate preservation and thorough mineral oil cleaning to ensure continuous, crisp transfers for future projects. Bring your imagination!
