Installing:

Please be advised that you will be responsible for installing your exhibition. We ask that you come prepared and that all artwork is finished, dry and ready to hang (along with proper hanging materials). Exhibitions are scheduled to be installed on Wednesday between the hours of 8:30 AM – 5 PM (some exceptions can be made if applicable). Please remember that we are a shared workspace hosting business professionals, off-site meetings, classes, and retreats – lots of people come in and out of the building every day. The Commons reserves the right to refuse work that is improperly presented or unsafe to hang.

* Please note that we can assist you in contracting a local curator to install your show for a fee of $250. Let us know in advance if you will need assistance with hanging your show.

Here are guidelines to follow when preparing to install:

- Do not crowd the exhibition space (give each piece breathing room)
- Work should be curated to suit The Commons exhibition space
- Artwork should be presented in a professional manner
- Hang art at eye level ( center work 57 – 60” inches from the ground) k
- The expected install time should not exceed 4 hours

Deinstalling:

Each artist is responsible for deinstalling their exhibition. All exhibitions are scheduled to be deinstalled on the second Monday of their show dates during The Commons regular business hours (8:30 AM – 5 PM). The Commons does not have the space to store any artwork.

Opening Reception:

Each exhibiting artist is welcome to host a reception here at The Commons to invite friends, family, and the community to celebrate the opening of their show. Receptions can occur Thursday through Sunday and run 2 to 3 hours in length. If you’d like to serve wine at your reception, you must host it on a Friday evening in accordance with the Provincetown Licensing Board and our gallery license. Receptions are to be held outside business hours and should not go past 9 PM. The exhibiting artist is responsible for food and drink, cleaning up afterward, and making sure that the building is locked and secure before leaving. If there are any questions about closing procedures, please contact Commons staff.

Sales

All sales made will be handled between the artist and the buyer. The Commons does not receive or accept money for sales. We can connect potential buyers with the artist to complete transactions, but we suggest setting up a Venmo, Paypal, or a Square account to handle all transactions. Please post payment and contact information on-site of the exhibition.

Promotion:

We require each artist to submit a title for their exhibition, an artist statement, and at least 2 high-resolution images of the work exhibited. We encourage artists to create original content on social media and tag The Commons (@commonsptown) for us to share with our followers.
