ARTIST STATEMENT
“Painting became my full-time focus in 2021 after a decades-long career in media and writing. As a painter, I hope to capture the visual magic of the places that live in my memory and imagination. These include subjects from in and around Provincetown, nature, astronomical events, and moments I’ve experienced with people I love. I’m also interested in the art historical context of Provincetown and American art in general. Stylistically, I’m drawn to post-impressionists, Romanticism, surrealism, and the contemporary notion of realism ‘disrupted’ by memory and alteration.”
