Artist Statement:
In "Safety in Numbers," I celebrate diversity and community through mixed media art and installation. Safety pins symbolize everyday tools that represent connection, openness, and support, highlighting the small yet powerful moments connect us. This artwork is a celebration of love and unity, for the freedom to thrive in the world.
Shez Arvedon is a multifaceted artist born in Boston, with a fine arts background from RISD and Southeastern Massachusetts University. With over four decades of experience, she's exhibited her mixed media work—infused with natural forces and a punk aesthetic—in notable venues such as the AMP Gallery in Provincetown, MA, the Leslie Lohman Museum in NYC, and various locations in Boston, San Francisco and Hawaii. Currently dividing and combining her life in Hawaii and Provincetown, her experiences and surroundings influence and inspire her art. Shez continues to embrace her life as an artist's residency.
