Making Light: A Conversation with Artists on Sustaining

Creativity, Courage, and Connection in Difficult Times In dark times, artists make light. It’s no secret that culture and the arts are under attack. We’ve now had some time since the advent of the new régime in the United States to think about what it means to us as artists. We’re looking at a substantial drop in funding, possible silencing mechanisms, and a culture of fear that stifles creativity.

Come and join the conversation as nine local artists, writers, musicians, and performers share their plans for maintaining their various artistic practices in the face of this repression and advance ideas that can be adopted by others for maintaining culture in dark times.

Panelists include Jeannette de Beauvoir, Scott Cunningham, Jay Critchley, and Susan Lambert.

This is meant to be a real conversation, so come with ideas for finding our way through the darkness. The theme for this session is: What are your artistic intention(s), and how can you stay aligned with them?

The event at The Provincetown Commons on May 20 at 7:00pm is free and open to the public. Come share your ideas for keeping the arts alive!

We will continue the conversations through the fall on June 17, July 22, August 19, andSeptember 16.
